29 Ways Prevail Bank is Strengthening Local Communities

29 Ways Prevail Bank is Strengthening Local Communities

(Spring 2025) At Prevail Bank, we’re writing 29 checks this Spring in support of our communities! Community is at the heart of everything we do and we’re investing $82,500 in local organizations through our Charitable Contributions Program! As a community bank, our mission extends beyond banking—we're here to help our communities grow and thrive. Whether it's supporting nonprofits or funding impactful programs, we're dedicated to making a difference.

Here’s how our contributions are making an impact:

School District of Prentice: In support of their WIAA track and field renovations, Prevail Bank contributed $20,000. Once completed, the track will allow the community to host sporting events and other activities that could generate revenue for the area.

Medford United Methodist Church:  $4,000 was designated to the Church’s Beds From Christ program, a county-wide collaborative effort, that provides beds and bedding for those experiencing homelessness, unemployment, domestic challenges and/or an unexpected crisis.

Pathway Home of South-Central Wisconsin: Pathway Home is a full-service, 8-room homeless shelter in Sauk County. Prevail Bank awarded the organization $4,000 to help fund emergency motel vouchers for those unhoused.

Phillips Fire & Rescue:  For the benefit of the Phillips Volunteer Fire Department, $4,000 went toward the purchase of a new rescue boat, that can be used both on water and ice, in addition to life jackets and ice water rescue suits.

United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties: UWSWAC was gifted $4,000 in support of its financial literacy classes and those programs that support an ALICE demographic. ALICE families or individuals are those who are employed, earn above the federal poverty levels, but not enough to achieve basic financial stability.

Marshfield Area United Way: $3,500 was allocated to support its Nutrition on Weekends (NOW) program. This program is a collaborative community effort targeting childhood hunger.

Junior Achievement of WI – Northcentral District: $3,125 was awarded in support of financial literacy and career planning curriculum materials for Marathon County classrooms. Uninformed financial decisions and poor career planning results in consequences that last a lifetime – Through Junior Achievement, Prevail Bank plans to change that.

Junior Achievement of WI – Portage & Wood Counties:  For classrooms in Prevail Bank’s southeast service aera, $3,125 was allocated in support of Junior Achievement financial literacy classroom programing.

Indianhead Community Action Agency (ICAA): In support of ICAA’s many food pantries in north central WI, Prevail Bank gifted $2,500.

Bridge Street Misson: Bridge Street Mission in Wausau is raising funds to expand its homeless facilities to include a Recovery Center for homeless women and an expanded Outreach Day Center that includes meal services and other programming. Prevail Bank contributed $2,000 to the build.

Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra: $2,000 was allocated to arts education and outreach. The Central WI Symphony Orchestra’s flagship educational program, that benefits 1,400 4th graders, is the Dorothy Vetter Memorial Educational Concert. It’s a collaboration that includes the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

Community Mission with Jesus:  $2,000 was allocated to Community Mission with Jesus to provide short-term assistance to people in Taylor County who are facing challenges resulting from job loss, medical bills, and/or those waiting for disability benefits. The Mission, consisting of nine churches, also provides financial counseling for effective budgeting.

Family Promise of Chippewa Valley:  When the Family Promise /Beacon House’s residents graduate (move out) from its homeless shelter to independent housing, the organization supports them for another 12 months on an as-needed basis. It helps pay for unexpected expenses, so they don’t regress back into an unhoused situation. In support of their client emergency fund, Prevail Bank gifted $2,000.

Family Support Center (FSC): The FSC is an agency that assists domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse survivors, the majority of which are low-income, in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties. Prevail Bank donated $2,000 toward its programming and operations.

Feed My People: Prevail Bank approved $2,000 to help purchase two floor scales that will weigh pallets of food before they are distributed to food pantries in 14 Wisconsin counties. Feed My People is a vital distribution center; nearly 75,000 individuals rely on the food supplied by them.

Habitat for Humanity of WI River Area: Prevail Bank donated $2,000 to the Home Repair Heroes Program that fixes houses for veterans, low-income, and disabled homeowners who are struggling to maintain their homes. Services include the installations of handicap-accessible ramps, window and door replacements, replacement of steps and handrails for safety, and energy efficiency projects.

Huey’s Hideaway Children’s Museum: The interactive exploratory children’s museum in Medford WI received $2,000 to repair its elevator to ensure continued functionality and accessibility to all special needs and physically challenged visitors.

Shared Blessings:  Shared Blessings offers inclusive recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities. Most of the activities are associated with 5ks, 10ks, and marathons where volunteers run with and push individuals in specially designed carts or they pull them in a cart behind a bike --- ultimately providing the thrill of participating in a race. Prevail Bank contributed $2,000 towards the purchase of an additional race cart.

United Way of Marathon County:  $4,000 was donated to help those individuals and families in Marathon County who are working but still aren’t making enough money to cover their basic needs.

Westboro Volunteer Fire Department: $2,000 was donated to help fund the purchase of their new fire engine.

Western Dairyland Economic Opportunity Council (WDEOC): A new Day Resource Center is planned in Eau Claire to address the need for coordinated housing and support services for the unhoused. It will include showers, laundry, and a resource center focused on mental health and addiction recovery. Prevail Bank gifted $2,000 toward the remodel of a newly purchased building.

Workforce Resource, Inc.: Prevail Bank contributed $2,000 to the WIOA grant program that helps low-income, unemployed individuals access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market.

Ruby’s Pantry (Wisconsin Rapids): Ruby’s Pantry is a mobile food pantry that assists approximately 400 families each month.  Prevail Bank donated $1,500 to purchase meat and protein items.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Chippewa Valley: $1,500 was awarded to Sleep in Heavenly Peace to purchase the lumber needed to make beds for children in need. “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town,” is their inspirational mission statement.

United Way of Taylor County: Many children and families in Taylor County struggle with hunger. For some of these children, the meals they receive in school are their only source of food. In support of the Meals in a Backpack program, Prevail Bank donated $1,500.

Chequamegon Parent Teacher Organization: $1,000 was awarded to enhance a Park Falls Elementary School playground.

Medford Area School District:  Prevail Bank purchased numerous Junior Achievement financial literacy curriculum kits, totaling $1,000, for the benefit of those students K-4th grade.

Children’s Museum of Eau Claire:  The final payment of $1,000 for a $10,000 pledge was made to the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire. The pledge supported a 2022 building expansion project.

United Way of Marathon County: The Emerging Leaders is a volunteer group of professionals who help the United Way provide skills training and financial literacy education to thousands of community members. In support of this, $750 was donated.

If any of the organizations tugged at your heartstrings, please know they would humbly accept any size donation to assist them in their mission. Volunteering your time and talents may be an option as well. We encourage you to reach out to them with what you have to offer.

We believe that when our communities thrive, we all thrive. From education to wellness, these contributions help create a brighter future for everyone. Interested in applying for Prevail Bank Charitable Contribution funds? Visit our Community Giving webpage to learn more!
