(Fall 2023) Prevail Bank is proud to be a community bank. This means, we are always looking for ways to enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. We believe, through the power of donation, we can positively influence the outcomes of local nonprofits for the greater good, making our towns, cities, and neighborhoods better places to live, work, and play.
Those organizations that applied and received a Charitable Contribution this fall are listed below.
It warms our heart to be able to contribute and assist so many — 27 to be exact!
Plover Whiting Youth Athletics (PWYA)
Prevail Bank provided $5,100 to the Plover Whiting Youth Athletics organization to assist them in building a new 2-story pavilion and to renovate numerous batting cages and dugs outs. These investments will help ensure PWYA is awarded the opportunity to continue hosting the USA and NAFA WI State Tournaments. Tournaments hosted at the fields now generate approximately $1.5 million annually for the Stevens Point, Plover, and Whiting communities.
Price County Productions – Historic Barn Project
Five thousand dollars ($5,000) was provided to Price County Productions in support of the renovations planned for the Historic Barn located on the Price County Fairgrounds. Subsequent events planned for the restored Historic Barn will provide an economic stimulus for Phillips, Park Falls, and other surrounding communities.
St. Vincent De Paul
A donation of $5,000 was made to St. Vincent De Paul to help cover the operational expenses of two food pantries and to fund a financial assistance program for low-income individuals and families in Price County. From July 2022-July 2023, they provided 2,178 households with 91,145 lbs. of food; 132 households received help with their rent and utilities.
Good News Project
Prevail Bank donated $5,000 in support of Good News Project’s capital campaign / building renovations. Good News is dedicated to educating individuals so they can live independently at home, in addition to providing the durable medical equipment needed to do so after an accident, surgery, a chronic diagnosis, or through the death and dying process. Based in Marathon County, Good News Project assists individuals throughout central Wisconsin.
HAVEN, Inc.
A $5,000 check was presented to HAVEN, Inc. in support of their transitional living building project for the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley
A donation of $5,000 was provided to the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley in support of the area’s Digital Equity initiative that helps provide qualified, low-to-moderate income individuals, with affordable Internet services.
Logger’s United Booster Club
A $5,000 check to build an athletic equipment storage shed on the Phillips High School’s athletic field was provided to the Logger’s United Booster Club. This is the third of four payments needed to fulfil a $25,000 pledge made in 2021.
United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties
Prevail Bank provided a donation of $3,000 to support United Way’s programming that assists low-to-moderate income individuals and families. Collectively, their programming impacts nearly 20,000 people.
Wood County Health Dept - Wisconsin Rapids Farmers’ Market
Through its Charitable Contributions program, Prevail Bank donated $3,000 to assist the Wood County Health Department fund their Double Dollar Days for FoodShare/EBT individuals and families --- supporting better nutrition.
Baraboo Homeless Shelter
Sixty-percent (60%) of Baraboo Homeless Shelter’s clients struggle with mental health challenges and other disabilities. Despite that, their success rate (transitioning someone who is homeless to an independent, permanent living scenario) is outstanding. It is attributed to the one-on-one comprehensive assistance provided by their case managers. Prevail Bank donated $3,000 to help cover case manager salaries
Santas Elves Foundation
The Santas Elves Foundation received a $3,000 donation to help cover the expense of replacing their facility’s roof and flooring due to snow and ice damage. The Foundation, based in Price County, provides Christmas gifts and basic living essentials to children of families in financial need.
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin - NCD
Prevail Bank was happy to gift $2,850 to the Junior Achievement organization based in Marathon County to support its student youth programming that includes financial literacy, workplace readiness, and entrepreneurship skills.
Holway Sluggers Ball Club
Prevail Bank donated $2,500 to help the Holway Sluggers Ball Club (Owen, WI) improve their ballfield. Improvements included ballfield sand and gravel, an electronic scoreboard, a grandstand with bleachers, yellow fence guards and caps, and softball equipment for players. This organization welcomes everyone to play, no matter their talent or disability. Twelve-percent (12%) of their youth are special needs.
Price Area Trail Hub, Inc. (PATH)
PATH, together with the School District of Phillips, is constructing a 3,600sq ft learning center in the school’s forest located in Worcester. Students and trail hikers alike will have access to the building’s amenities. The multi-functional facility will be available for rent as well. Prevail Bank provided $2,500 in support of the build.
Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area
Prevail Bank donated $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area in support of its Meals & Snacks for Non-School Days program. Prevail applauds the work of organizations that support local youth, especially those youth who are hungry and don’t have access to warm and nutritious meals outside of the school day.
Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley
Prevail Bank gave $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley in support of their Altoona operations. Youth programming provided there includes academic assistance, career exploration, workforce readiness, skill-building, ‘money matters’ programming, and mental health resiliency --- which helps ensure a successful future for themselves and the communities they ultimately choose to live, work, and play.
Marshfield Area United Way
Prevail Bank donated $2,100 in support of the Nutrition On Weekends (NOW) program managed by the Marshfield Area United Way. The program provides healthy, ready-to-eat nutritious foods for children during the weekend. It was created in response to a 2012 Youth Risk Behavior Survey whereby 20% indicated they had gone to bed hungry at least once in the past 30 days because there was not enough food in the home.
Prentice School District
Prevail Bank gave $2,000 to the Prentice School District to use toward the reconstruction of its high school track and a new equipment shed. Due to the disrepair and safety hazards of the track students have not had a home track meet for years. When complete, the track will also provide the public a safe place to walk and run for exercise, versus the streets.
Wausau Metro Area Special Olympics
Two-thousand dollars ($2,000) was gifted by Prevail Bank to the Wausau Metro Area Special Olympics to help cover the expenses of renting buses to transport local athletes to their state and district games.
The Children’s Museum of Eau Claire
In 2022, Prevail Bank pledged $10,000 to the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire; $2,000 of that pledge was paid this fall. The museum moved/rebuilt itself on the corner of 126 N. Barstow Street, Eau Claire. It added 6,134 sq feet of exhibit, classroom, childcare, and preschool space. It opened in January 2023.
Huey’s Hideaway Children’s Museum
A $1,500 check was cut in support of the museum’s building maintenance fund. The mission of Huey’s Hideaway is to inspire children, connect families, and build communities through exploration, creativity, lifelong learning, and play.
Elk Lake Park
Prevail Bank donated $1,000 in support of new playground equipment at Elk Lake Park in Phillips, WI. The park, located in the heart of the community, features a lighted walking path, boat launch, splash pad, basketball courts, disc golf course, event pavilion, and stage. The existing playground equipment is over 25 years old.
Children’s House Montessori School
Prevail Bank gave $1,000 to the Children’s House Montessori School to use toward the purchase of new outdoor learning, play structures. The Montessori School provides preschool programming to children ages 2-5 and is partnered with the Eau Claire Area School District.
PATCH Wausau
Providers and Teens Communicating for Health (PATCH) program, founded in 2018 by the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health, is a youth-driven program that works to improve adolescents’ health and well-being. Trained teens lead teen-attended workshops and presentations. For training supplies, Prevail Bank contributed $700.
Elliot’s Little Library
A $500 check was cut Elliot’s Little Library to purchase books that would be given to local families who have an infant at a local NICU. The books provide a means for families to bond with their newborns who may be sick or premature.
Samoset Council - Boy Scouts of America
Boy Scout programming teaches leadership skills, promotes integrity, and an obligation to give back to their communities. Last year the Samoset Council provided over $71,000 in financial assistance to their scouting families so they could participate in learning activities and camps. Prevail Bank contributed $500 to its financial assistance fund.
Farming for the Future Foundation
Prevail Bank pledged $180,000 in 2021 to the Farming for the Future Foundation to support the construction of a Food + Farm Exploration Center in Portage County WI. Thirty-six thousand dollars ($36,000) of that pledge was paid this fall. The Center, a manifestation of the Foundation’s educational mission, opened this Summer.
